TV Distribution (DTH)

atrexx offers access to digital TV platforms on Europe's hottest Direct to Home (DTH) satellites. The common ground for these TV platforms is in the Digital Video Broadcasting (DVB-S) technology over satellite.

Broadcast satellite TeleportThe teleports which atrexx manages, serve, among others, the DTH positions 13° East (Eutelsat HOT BIRD™) and  19.2° (ASTRA) . This allows to reach an installed base of some 50 million households in Europe, North Africa and the Middle East.  Due to the high power of these DTH satellites and the standardized Digital Video Broadcasting (DVB) transmission scheme, an ubiquitious DVB set-top box and a small satellite dish is all what is required at the viewer's site.

MPEG-2 data reduction and signal multiplexing at the teleport allows 8-10 TV channels to be transmitted in excellent quality over one satellite transponder of 36 MHz bandwidth. With MCPC (Multi Channel per Carrier) on DVB, atrexx offers the most popular method of Satellite Direct-to-Home (DTH) Broadcasting.

The video signal is contributed via a low cost Satellite on a Single Channel per Carrier (SCPC) to the uplink site and then processed for broadcasting on a DTH Satellite.   The video signal is played-out direct at the Teleport. The content is stored at video servers and the customer has remote control to the play list generator. The signal will be processed at site for broadcasting and uplink to the DTH Satellite.   The video signal is contributed via a digital terrestrial fibre line to the uplink site and then processed for broadcasting on a DTH Satellite.
